Description: The right of way (ROW) layer is to be used as a guide to point the user in the right direction to find the real establishment document. The results are many and varied. Ofen times the document will be the deed and or Establishment Order, while others will be plan maps or "By Use". The term "By Use" when used here will generally mean we are currently or have in the past used or spent county funds on the Road/ROW.There are over 2800 roads that have been established in Douglas County. Each segment of these ROW's will need to be evaluated separately by a knowledgeable person to determine how the ROW was established. This will sometimes require consulting with the Prosecuting Attorney.

Description: keep vehicles within their roadway and prevent them from colliding with dangerous obstacles such as boulders, sign supports, trees, bridge abutments, buildings, walls, and large storm drains, or from traversing steep (non-recoverable) slopes or entering deep water. They are also installed within medians of divided highways to prevent errant vehicles from entering the opposing carriageway of traffic and help to reduce head-on collisions. Some of these barriers, designed to be struck from either side, are called median barriers. Traffic barriers can also be used to protect vulnerable areas like school yards, pedestrian zones, and fuel tanks from errant vehicles.
